FAQ
What is WealthForward™ ROC?
WealthForward ROCTM is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to increase homeownership rates and help build generational wealth in Greater Rochester.
Why is addressing the homeownership important?
Homeownership is the largest contributor to wealth creation and transfer. By increasing homeownership rates, we can strengthen our entire community and move toward a more inclusive future.
What areas are included in Greater Rochester?
Greater Rochester is defined as the six-county region of Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans and Wayne.
How is this different from other initiatives?
This initiative goes beyond collaboration; it embodies a unified commitment to tackling disparities in homeownership. Collaboration is essential, we recognize that individual efforts alone cannot sufficiently address the persistent gap in homeownership. Our approach emphasizes collective action, leveraging the power of partnerships to enhance existing efforts and forge new pathways. We strive to create lasting change.
Who is the target audience of this initiative?
The initiative aims to engage households that are ready or on the cusp of being ready for homeownership. These families are financially positioned to own a home but need the right support.
What evidence do you have that a ripple effect is possible?
Research from organizations like the Urban Institute highlights the positive impact that expanding homeownership can have on a community. Data demonstrates that equalizing homeownership rates, in addition to household wealth, has a positive impact on the home values of surrounding properties. This can also translate to more purchasing power in the community, new jobs, and additional tax revenues.
